Dean Close Foundation are looking to appoint a new cohort of Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTA) starting in September 2025, who are looking to start a career in teaching or sports coaching.

Under the line management of the Assistant Head Co-Curricular, the GTA role is pivotal in providing sporting and academic support for pupils, a top-class evening and weekend activity programme, contributing to the academic life of the school and being an integral part of the boarding community. Other roles and responsibilities are to include:

  • Pastoral duties where you would be supporting our Houseparent’s in various duties in our boarding house
  • Assist in the delivery of co-curricular learning outside of the classroom in areas such as sport, music and drama.
  • Running and coaching various sports teams with the Foundation.
  • Assisting the relevant Academic Department to your degree, supporting our teaching staff before working with small groups to support their learning.
  • Supervision of workrooms and lessons during a teacher’s absence.

The successful candidates will be qualified to Degree level and has a passion to start their career in Teaching or Sports coaching. Previous experience of boarding school life would be advantageous; however, this is not essential.
